New Cover Art to share for Relentless, coming in February from Dreamspinner!

New pretty to share. Relentless, coming from Dreamspinner in February.

Here's a peek:

Jaguar shifter and sniper extraordinaire, Jag, is tasked with his most difficult and dangerous mission to date—take out the man responsible for his spotter and husband’s violent death. Again.

Sonar, an ocelot shifter, is assigned as the new spotter to the surly and scowling feline alpha. He’s impressed with Jag’s skills but sees more beneath the surface: a grief-stricken and furious man on a trail of vengeance.

Together Sonar and Jag face perils and challenges that test their skills, resolve, and the budding feelings they have for each other. As the death toll rises, so does the heat between them. Their longings could give them the strength needed to persevere, but it also might force them to succumb and sacrifice everything. One thing’s for certain: someone won’t be making it back alive.

Reese rocks! She does the best covers. I LOVE her work!

Leap of Faith releases Friday! My first sci-fi book!

Leap of Faith releases Friday from Fireborn Publishing. This is my first sci-fi book and I'm excited to see how it goes!

Blurb:

Alaina Stratten's dream of purchasing a rare cloth to take home falls flat once she sets eyes on a man and child in shackles. His gaze compels her to step up and do something. Before she knows it, she's the new owner of the slave pair.

Betrayed by his wife and sold into slavery, Race Trevern desperately needs the break Alaina offers. Not about to waste their chance, Race quickly gains the advantage, vowing to give the woman a taste of captivity by making her his slave, his wife's treachery still a bitter aftertaste.

The past haunts Race, forcing his hand and threatening the precarious freedom he and his son recently gained. He needs assistance and the only one who can change the tide is locked in his dungeon. Race has no choice but to trust Alaina and hope her promises hold true. She holds their lives in her hands.

Whoo-Hoo! Just signed a contract with Dreamspinner for Loaded for Bear! Yes!

That's right! I just signed a contract with Dreamspinner Press for a book entitled Loaded for Bear. Tentative release date is May to June.

Here's a look at the unedited blurb:

Polar bear shifter, Graham, can't believe his bad luck. Not only does he find himself traded to another baseball team at mid-season, he's also teamed up with Trigger Mallow--widely considered best player in the game--with the worst attitude.
Trigger is on the fence about Graham. As a grizzly bear shifter, he's relieved to have another ursine on the team, even if they are different species. The problem is Trigger is in the middle of his natural mating season and Graham looks too damn good to pass up.
What begins as friends with benefits has the potential for so much more. If only they can put aside their differences, learn to trust, listen to their feelings, and realize that it's more than just a bear thing.

I can't wait!

An update: What am I working on now?

It's been a busy time lately. Re-writes on Second Chances took precedence. Country Strong is over 40K and still has a ways to go. Not to mention edits on Leap of Faith arrived today. I finished rewrites and sent them back as well as knocked out the edits. Now, it's back to the writing board and waiting. Hopefully good news will be right around the corner!

New pretty to share!

New pretty to share. Coming in December from Fireborn Publishing.
Unofficial blurb:
Alaina's dream of purchasing a rare cloth to take back home falls flat once she sets eyes on a man and child in shackles. His gaze compels her to step up and do something. Before she knows it, she's the new owner of the slave pair.

The past haunts Race, forcing his hand as his precarious freedom and that of his son hang in the balance. He needs a helping hand and the only one who can change the tide is presently locked in his dungeon. He has no choice but to trust Alaina and hope her promises hold true. For she holds his and Teegan's lives in her hands.

Sad times

Sadly, one of my publishers has closed the doors. Secret Cravings Publishing is now deceased. Books are coming down from sites as we speak. Rights revision letters will follow. It's happening all too often lately because the market is tough. Very tough. So hard for the small publishers to be able to compete. I will say that SCP is handling this with grace and honesty. There's no hiding, no arguing. Sandy, the owner, has been upfront, answering questions, and working hard to make this as easy as possible. For that I'm grateful.

This will affect 7 books of mine. In my opinion, the best books that I've written. I'll be searching for new homes for them soon. I'll update everyone when that happens. For the moment, I'll leave the cover art on my blog. When I start looking for new homes for those books, I'll take them down and hopefully have new ones to replace them.

In the meantime, I'll try to get back on the writing wagon and get more new stuff out there.
Thanks again to everyone who reads my stuff. Without you and all the wonderful author friends, I don't know that I'd keep writing. But, we must all press onward even in times of adversity. So, that's what I shall do.

Endangered Species releases Friday! Yes! It's already been a best seller at All Romance Ebooks. What a wonderful start!

Guess what releases Friday? Endangered Species! I can't wait! It's already hit the best sellers list at All Romance Ebooks. Yes!

Injured, exhausted, and on his last leg, lynx shifter, Jordan, all but gives up hope. After weeks confined in a research lab against his will, he manages to escape only to become hunted and is on the run. His will to survive is strong...if only he can keep going.

Noble finds a ragged, bloody shifter on his doorstep in desperate need of attention. He recognizes a similar kinship with Jordan--they're misfits. Noble can't change forms, a fact his family won't accept. Jordan, thanks to the experimentation, can achieve any feline form, but not without a price.

Together, they find common ground, trust, and compassion as the winter snows offer protection from Jordan's hunter. Feelings deepen and passion erupts. However, both know their time is limited. A mad scientist with torture on his mind won't stop searching for his creation--or killing anyone who stands in his way.

YIPPEE!  I'm so excited!

Here's a peek:

Injured, exhausted, and on his last leg, lynx shifter, Jordan, all but gives up hope. After weeks confined in a research lab against his will, he manages to escape only to become hunted and is on the run. His will to survive is strong...if only he can keep going.

Noble finds a ragged, bloody shifter on his doorstep in desperate need of attention. He recognizes a similar kinship with Jordan--they're misfits. Noble can't change forms, a fact his family won't accept. Jordan, thanks to the experimentation, can achieve any feline form, but not without a price.

A mad scientist with torture on his mind won't stop searching for his creation--or killing anyone who stands in his way.

And an excerpt:

Just a little further.

Jordan sucked in a breath and was nearly bowled over with pain when his injured leg slid off the slippery, muddy slope, forcing him to use his claws to dig in. Shards of agony lashed through him as he caught himself out of sheer determination and used the leverage and last of the strength in his right rear leg to push himself back on the more level ground. He paused a second to catch his breath, and shuddered with weakness.

For two long weeks, he'd been hunted. Run to ground over and over, only to find a way to escape each time. Until now. Exhausted, he'd slept for a couple of hours, unable to move along without minimal rest. Until a shot rang out, a blast of fire entered his hind leg, and the limb could barely handle the weight even in his present natural form of a lynx. It was most likely broken and in need of swift repair.

He'd been a lab guinea pig for the last three weeks or was it four? Kept behind bars like a dangerous criminal, used for experiments, which should have not only been outlawed, but considered so morally wrong, the entire world would cry out in protest.

Other shifters had suffered the same fate, yet, one by one, they died from a combination of the experimental drugs forced into their systems, a lack of adequate food and water, and the rapidly declining will to survive. Most gave up and embraced death. Jordan teetered on the edge, but his inner beast refused to allow him to give up. Not when he had a plan and simply waited for his opportunity. The day finally came. He escaped his cell and ran for the hills after ransacking the lab and destroying the formulas Wilson declared took a lifetime to produce. He'd smiled in satisfaction as first one laptop then the other lay smashed on the floor, completely beyond repair.

Unfortunately, his jailer carried a grudge. A big one.

Release day for Tails: Werewolf! I'm so excited!

Tails:  Werewolf is now available!  This is the second book in the Coin Toss Series. A flip of a coin decides their blind date, but will that lead to love or disaster?

Timber believes true love only belongs in fairy tales, but reluctantly agrees to attend the annual social event of the season and meet her blind date for the evening: a werewolf.

Rock doesn't need the complication of a human mate, not with the present pack alpha stepping down, a violent struggle to claim the position a few short days away, and a deadly rival set upon taking the throne for himself.

Will they pull together as fate deemed in order to save the pack and themselves or will the difference between them prove too large a hurdle to overcome? Can Timber open her heart to a part time fur bearer and recognize love can exist if only given a chance?

Update on where I'm at in my writing life

Just an update on my writing life.

I finished final edits on Tails:  Werewolf, due out July 17th. Yes!

Edits for Endangered Species arrive next.

I'm presently working on a sci-fi M/F romance tentatively entitled Leap of Faith. This is my first venture into sci-fi, so we'll see how that goes. World building and the language is a challenge! I hope to finish it this week or next.

What comes after that? I'm not sure. I have a few ideas, just have to see which one starts talking. Hopefully something will!

Heads: Vampire releases tomorrow!

Heads:  Vampire releases tomorrow!

Charlotte believes love only exists in fairy tales, but agrees to attend a New Year's Eve party as a favor to a friend. A coin toss saddles her with a snobbish, immaculate vampire with a big ego, one who makes her grind her teeth. Yet, she can't pass up the golden opportunity to pester him with silly questions.

Ethan can't believe he's set up with a human female, one with horrendous taste in interior decorating and a quirky inquisitiveness that pricks at his final nerve. Unfortunately, the cards are stacked against him from the moment they meet. Danger and disaster bring them together, forcing them to lean on one another for survival.

Can they move past their vast species differences and find true love?

Adopting kittens or wait?

I'm considering adopting a couple of kittens to go along with my 11 year old cat. This is one that I'm looking at. Isn't she so sweet?
Not sure how my elderly girl would feel with two rambunctious babies zipping around, though.
Decisions, decisions.

*crossing my fingers*

Just submitted another story. Now the hard part:  waiting.

*crossing my fingers*

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

Welcome Kenzie Michaels to my blog today! Let's get a glimpse into her world!

Thanks for having me today, Cheyenne!
My heroine, GiNae SoJae, in NiKoh’s Chosen, is an animal lover, so today I thought I’d share with you some of our past and present four-legged friends.
My daughter had been volunteering at our local animal shelter, and fell in love with Cheyenne, the ‘German-Rott-Bull-Chow’, so she brought her home five years ago.  Chey has been a wonderful addition to our family, since we had to put down our German Shepherd in 2008, and my beloved Black Lab in 2010.
My youngest went to the park on New Year’s Eve Day in 2009 and came home with Oreo.  Since at the time we already had two dogs and two pet rats, I wanted him taken to the shelter as soon as they opened in two more days.  Oreo, however, managed to capture our hearts and remained with us for 3 years, until he disappeared one rainy day.  We think he was captured by the neighbor in a live trap, along with six others, and taken who-knows-where.  Oreo was known to never turn down free food, and while we can’t prove it, the timing is still suspicious, though the neighbor still denies our kitty was in the trap.
Our Pit Bull Dexter, was acquired with great reservation on my part.  A friend of my daughter’s had moved back in with his mom, and asked if we would keep him ‘for just one night’, until another home could be found.  One night turned into a weekend, which turned into a week…now, two years later, he’s ours and a big baby, who thinks he’s a lap dog.  I love this picture of our ‘vicious pit’, curled up with my two y/o granddaughter’s  blanket!  He doesn’t hesitate to defend his turf, though we finally got him to stop barking at the mailman!

As I stated, Dexter’s a big baby, and here, my daughter used him for a head rest.
Many pet owners go through heartache, and our family is no exception.  Roxie, the cocker spaniel we rescued six years ago, is now totally blind and nearly deaf.  We also joke she has ‘doggy
Alztheimer’s’, since I can put her out to do her business, then five minutes later she thinks she has to go out again.  She’s also gotten ‘lost’ in the house, not knowing what room she’s in, and has to be gently guided out of it.  Roxie has a bad habit of lying in the center of the walkway in the middle of the night, only to be tripped over or even kicked across the room by family members on their way to the bathroom.
Thank you Kenzie for sharing with us today! You're such a sweetheart and I applaud your love of animals and your wonderful stories. Keep up the excellent work!

Trinity has always known the sacrifices her mom made for her and in tribute she is going to make her mom’s dream come true. Along the way, she discovers friends she never knew she had and a man from her past who promises her a beautiful future.
Cody has scars no one can see, but Trinity brought him back to life. If he can lay himself bare, he may have the lady of a lifetime.
Trinity has a family legacy which is cause for gossip. Cody has suffered through the fires of hell and came out alive. Will these two fight for each other, or pick the easy way of life?
The pace of Cowgirl Up is sublime. Trinity took her time in assessing Cody as a man before deciding to give him a chance. I loved the way the author ensured the reader could truly appreciate how much Trinity was unsure. All too often the words say the woman is unsure, and on the next page she gives in. Cowgirl Up is truly a journey through the past and the pains of life to arrive at a possible ending which makes it all worth it. The writing of Ms. Meadows is truly awe inspiring and ensures the reader will continue to read the outstanding writing of a talented author.

Ghost's Treasure debuts Friday and has already received a 5-star review

Ghost's Treasure (Wind Warriors #7) debuts Friday, but has already received a 5-star review!

http://archaeolibrarianologist.blogspot.de/2015/04/review-by-amy-ghosts-treasure-wind.html

Here's what Amy said:

5 out of 5 (exceptional)

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

* Disclaimer * - I received this book from Totally Bound Publishing in return for a fair and honest review.

Josie lives a quiet life and keeps to herself. She works as an assistant librarian and decides to do something different with her day off and goes to an estate sale and purchases a box of old books. She discovers there are more than just books in this box. She tries to do the right thing with these treasures and finds herself in a whirlwind of trouble, danger, and people who will stop at nothing to get those treasures.

Ghost is an assassin with a tragic past he doesn’t want anyone to know about. His goal in life is to take down the bad guys no matter what, even if it means death for him. Ryan from the FBI, needs a favor and needs Ghost to use his incredible skills to protect Josie from the killers that are coming after her. Little does Ghost know, she will be the one to break down his walls and warm his heart and make him feel again. Can Ghost allow himself to open up for Josie during the time they are together? Is this really just a job?

This book was amazing. The story line kept me reading and reeling over what was going to happen next. Between the action going on with the killers on the loose and the feelings developing between Josie and Ghost, I couldn’t stop reading. His past is tragic and my heart was breaking for him, for his past and his present. These scenes broke my heart. Josie’s character was a fun, witty, feisty, and loving woman. She made this story much more fun. She brought the laughter in and was a breath of fresh air when the sadness was overtaking my emotions.

This was my first time reading any book to this series by Cheyenne and boy am I glad I read it! I can definitely recommend it to you. Once I realized that it was #7 in the series, I was worried I was going to be missing a lot to the story, but this definitely wasn’t the case. I will be adding 1-6 to my “to be read” list immediately. I don’t think you will be disappointed by this authors work!

I have a guest today. Everyone, please meet Remmy Duchene!

I'd like to welcome Remmy Duchene today.

Remmy has a new, wonderful book out and is here today to tell us about it and a little personal information as well!

SAMURAI: An Unhealthy Love Affair
By: Remmy Duchene

When I was a little girl in Jamaica, we had two television stations—JBC and CVM. So we didn’t have much to watch but old Westerns and Martial arts movies. From a young age I had this thing for the Samurai. Let’s be honest, when I was young watching ones like G.I Samurai from 1979 or Samurai Rebellion from about 1967 I didn’t know the real history behind these formidable fighters. All I knew was that they were bad-ass and when I grew up I wanted to be one. No one told me I couldn’t because I was a girl because of course I never voiced this out loud. I would merely run around the front yard screaming “Hiiiii-yah!” while karate chopping the air or my sister to emphasize just how Samurai I was.

Even at the young age of eight or nine, I knew the Samurai were something special. From the way they dressed, to the way they wore their hair I developed an unhealthy love and a keen interest. I would read every book I could get my hands on (which wasn’t easy since I lived in the country side in Jamaica at the time and these books weren’t conducive to my education so not a top priority for the libraries there).

Then I was introduced to Bruce Lee – sure he wasn’t a Samurai but he might as well have been. Since I couldn’t be a Samurai or meet a real-honest-to-goodness Samurai, Bruce Lee would have to do!
The years ticked by—and soon I moved to Canada. The first book I ever borrowed from the library was The Book of Five Rings by the greatest Samurai Ever Miyamoto Musashi. And my adoration of the Samurai continues in my story Osaki that’s book two in my SHIVERS series. It took tons of research—oh the agony! (winks). The search was mostly to brush up on what I already know then delve into my knowledge, books and movies to gather tidbit of information on the culture and these great men. Sure, there were female Samurai (like the Onna Musha). Sure they weren’t an everyday thing but they existed.  But I digress.

I brought a warrior from the past in to the present, and gave him free roam to have a life and enjoy.
When I spoke to Austin Clarke at a function in Toronto in 2014, he told me the old saying “write what you love” is no joke. I love the Samurai and with that in mind, writing OSAKI gave me great pleasure (not THAT kind of pleasure you dirty lol).

EXCERPT

Zeus’ eyes flashed as the sky darkened and lightening streaked across it. Osaki glanced at Kofi for a split second to ensure he was still by his side then eyed Zeus.
“I am not a fool, Zeus. Tell me true. Why are you really here?”
“I do not know why Ciro saw it fit to give you more than you already had. You did not deserve these abilities.”
“That is what you came here to do? To say the same thing the rogues have been saying since Aerios tried to wipe us out? Save your...”
“Now wait a minute!” Kofi spoke up, shoving roughly against Osaki’s arm.
“Kofi...” Osaki warned.
“No!” Kofi said, stepping forward. “No. He has no right talking to you like that. One of his dumbass sons tossed a fucking lightning bolt at me, and almost killed you and now he has the nerve to say you don’t deserve to be a Shiver? To hell with that.”
Osaki couldn’t tell the last time he was so proud. Here was a man who wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he believed in and this man—if he could find some way to make it happened—was all his.
“I could crush you with a thought,” Zeus threatened.
“But we both know you’re not going to because Koi and Ciro would burn your pathetic world to the ground.”
Zeus took a step back. Osaki was shocked for it seemed Kofi’s words genuinely scared Zeus. What was going on?
“You sit on mount Olympus only venturing down here when you’re horny and then leave your poor, unsuspecting victims to handle the messes you’ve created!” Kofi continued. “Forget king of the Gods, you’re a coward!”
“How dare you! I am Zeus!”
Kofi lifted his hand like he was holding a sock puppet. “Blah, blah-fucking-blah! Who gives a flying fuck? There is a battle happening here. And all you can do is come down here and try to throw your power around? We’re not impressed.” Kofi took a step toward Zeus which made Osaki very uncomfortable. “You are either on our side or you’re part of the problem.”
“Is he yours?” Zeus asked Osaki.
“Stick around, Zeus and you will learn, Kofi belongs to no one,” Osaki spoke. “But I am his.”
